As mentioned yesterday, the new magnatune home page launched today, but there are a few other changes. Specifically, the top-charts pages in /info/stats now all feature album art.
For example, on the home page, the top 10 albums are listed, with a link to the top 50, which now looks like this:
the references to "best selling" and "highest paid" on each artist's page (in the margin)
link to the statistics pages. The highest paid page also got a makeover:
as did the top-sellers-by-genre page:
However, I'm thinking of changing the home page, so that instead of a top-10 listing, there is:
- top 5 sellers, 1 for each major genre
- 5 staff picks, 1 for each major genre
that way we're not as weighted toward the top genres (classical/ambient) and show more variety of genres on the home page, and we also can feature albums that we think are special but don't get heard much.

I love it John!
I only just (not sure if it's always been like this or not) realized that something kinda weird about the main page is how it's only 700 or so (whatever you know the real number) pixels wide; anything more than that is just white space. .... I don't know what you should do instead, but I figured I'd voice my opinion that it's weird-looking.
I also like your 5 & 5 instead of top10 idea for the main page much better too.

I like it too. There's a white bar across the middle, I don't know if it's supposed to be there, or if it's a firefox/css quirk. Screenshot here: http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=112441465&size=l
The byline seems a little odd. It doesn't roll off the tongue very easily. I tried coming up with some others, and only got one I really liked.
Love it first. Buy it second.
I'm not sure that's any better though. :(
Would you ever be interested in an html restructuring of your site, to move it to a more css based layout? I'm thinking along the lines of listener submited stuff for a contest, and if none stand up, you keep what you have. :)

There's a white bar across the middle, I don't know if it's supposed to be there, or if it's a firefox/css quirk.
It was a quirk only on Firefox/Linux -- it didn't appear on Firefox/windows or Firefox/Mac. (sigh)
Should be fixed now.
I'm not big on CSS, as my experiments with it, using a CSS expert, produced extremely-hard-to-solve CSS display problems in some browsers. For example, this blog uses CSS, and the last "info" button wraps to the left on some browser, such as Safari. My CSS consultant worked for about a dozen hours on that and couldn't fix it.
