Yesterday, I listened to the new Shiva in Exile album, which will soon be up on Magnatune.
I've been a huge fan of Stefan Hertrich, who is Shiva in Exile, because his music is an amazing mix-up of many genres in a brand new creative way. You'll hear new age, goth, arabic, metal and industrial and electronica on his album.
In my speeches, I've sometimes referred to his 1st album as "goth industrial arabic", which usually provokes some snickering in the audience, but it's true.
His second album, which he just sent me for inclusion on Magnatune, is even better.
I wrote him to tell him I loved his new album, and wrote me back this very nice note, expressing how Magnatune had affected him:
I am happy that you like the album! It was really really really much work and I hope it will get some attention.
However, I know that Magnatune again will contribute much to the popularity of Shiva In Exile. I think without Magnatune having published the first album I wouldn´t have written this one, because most good results and interesting connections came because of Magnatune :-) |
What's special about his note, is that Stefan is a veteran of the music industry, as he was in the quite-popular band Darkseed, and has had several albums released on the mini-major labels.
