I've added a "lofi" option for those of you with a slow internet connection or otherwise unreliable bandwidth.
To enable it, on any album page at Magnatune, look below the bio text and you'll see these options:
click on the "hifi: on/off" to enable/disable this "low fi (aka low bandwidth)" feature.
With "hifi: off" Magnatune will stream to you a lofi mp3 file that is about 1/4 the size of the normal mp3s. Of course, the audio quality is not as good, but playback is much more reliable on bad internet connections and the quality is definitely good enough to decide if you want to download the entire album.
Your "lofi" setting is saved in a cookie, and automatically applied to all other albums you listen to. It also applies to albums you listen to on the home page.
